Notice on Soliciting People's Suggestions for the Second World Leisure Expo (2007-1-9)

The First World Leisure Expo was successfully staged in our city in 2006. It has been the most influential exposition ever held in Hangzhou, which is the largest in scale, lasts for the longest time, attracts the largest number of participants and achieves the highest standard. In 2011, Hangzhou will host the Second World Leisure Expo, with Hangzhou Xianghu Tourist Holiday Resort as the main venue. It is bound to be another important opportunity for Hangzhou to be constructed into a city where people lead a quality life, and be further developed as the Oriental Leisure Capital. It will also facilitate the rapid development of Hangzhou's modern service industry led by its leisure tourism. In order to mobilize the whole society to successfully stage the Second World Leisure Expo, we need to make full use of the experience in hosting the First Expo, pursue innovations while inheriting the essence of the first one, and further broaden our horizons in hosting the Expo.

Therefore, Publicity Department of Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee, Hangzhou World Leisure Expo Office (Convention & Exhibition Office) and Hangzhou Municipal Office for Soliciting People's Suggestions jointly organize the activity "Offering Views and Suggestions for the Second World Leisure Expo" to publicly solicit people's suggestions. Now the relevant issues are announced as follows.

I. The solicitation d ates: from the date of notice release through January 20 th , 2007

II. Requirements for the suggestions: the suggestions shall reflect the theme of constructing a harmonious socialist society, and center around the following five aspects for the success of the Second World Leisure Expo: "the Second World Leisure Expo in my mind", "the most desirable activities of the Second World Leisure Expo", "what should the Second World Leisure Expo bring to the city's economy, culture and society", "with what outlook (including the traffic, environment and citizen's quality in the city) should Hangzhou host the Second World Leisure Expo", and "how can more tourists from home and abroad be attracted to participate in the Second World Leisure Expo".

III. Means of submitting suggestions: all the suggestions shall be sent to Hangzhou Municipal Office for Soliciting People's Suggestions either via paper posts or E-mails (participant's name, prof ession, telephone number and address shall all be included).

IV. Postal address: Municipal Office for Soliciting People's Suggestions , No. 318 North Huanchen Road, Hangzhou (Postcode: 310026). Stamp is exempted (only for mails sent in the city proper). Some solicited suggestions will be reported by news media after selection. The expert appraisal team will assess the suggestions and select some opinions and suggestions with outstanding plans and innovations for the Second World Leisure Expo, which will taken as reference for planning the Second Expo. Proper rewards will be given to those offering excellent ideas. People of insight are welcomed to put forward their positive suggestions and opinions. On the afternoon of 30th, August, many Japanese Ballet dancers performed at the old castle square in World Leisure Expo Garden .

On 15 th , August, 2006 Hangzhou Daming Mountain .International Forum on China Leisure Travel of Hilly Area was held in Lin'an. On 14 th , October, with the theme " Hangzou the West Lake . Enjoy Leisure in Shangcheng District", two weeks activities of Shangcheng district theme started in Hangzhou hall in the leisure expo garden. On the first floor of Hanghzou hall, the two weeks activities of Shangcheng district theme began with a theatrical festival performed by Wushan theatre troupe.

The Shangcheng district is one of the central districts of Hangzhou city. In recently years, through constructing traveling and leisure business district and building up RBD of Hanghzou, it has formed a modern "traveling and leisure business district" which combines "scene of mountain and water, history and culture, fashion shopping, leisure entertainment and sightseeing and travel" together. During the early half of this year, the number of visitors of Anji came to 2.4 million, income of tickets was 24.25 million RMB, and income of tourism was 690 million RMB. Compared with last year, the data has increased 25.2%, 46.3% and 25.8% separately.

Sub-venue Zhouzhuang has received 791.7 thousand visitors from opening ceremony to the late of July. Compared whit last year, the data has increased 14% with 18% visitors overseas.

Sub-venue Fuyang has received 1930.7 thousand visitors which increased 31.65% compared with last year. The income of tourism has come to 1.051 billion RMB which increased 36.4%. The entire data have come up to a new record.

World Leisure Expo not only pushes ahead the local commercial tourism, but also flourishes a new special group-- Tourism Circle of Yangtze River Delta.

World Leisure Expo Irrigates Tourism of Anji(2006-8-21)

Setting sub-venues of World Leisure Expo makes Anji gain the largest benefits from tourism. Activities such as the opening ceremony and Bamboo Festival let Anji get reputation and benefits. During World Leisure Expo, Anji organized a series of economy and trading events. For example, Anji& Taizhou Investment Environment Promotion, Suzhou tender invitation projects, zhenzhou investigation tours for business investment and etc. During the first round of economy and trading activities, Anji signed contracts worthy 33.46 million US Dollar and actually got 12.8 million US Dollar. It was reported that from January to July 2006 the number of Anji tourists has been to 2.4 million, the income from tickets to 24.25 million RMB, and income from tourism to 6.9 billion RMB. Compared with last year, these items have increased up 25.2%, 46.3% and 25.8% respectively. Zhouzhuang, another sub-venue of World Leisure Expo, has received 0.79 million tourists from opening ceremony to the late July. Compared with last year, it has increased up 14% with 18% foreign visitors. Meanwhile, Fuyang city has received 1.93 million visitors until half of this year. Compared with last year, it has increased up 31.65%. The tourism income has got 1.05 billion RMB and increased up 36.4% with last year.

During the World Leisure Expo, sub-venues take advantage of each other's tourism resources to implement colorful activities. Japanese Martial Art Masters Appeared in the World Leisure Expo Garden(2006-8-14)

On August 7th, a team of martial art masters from Japan appeared in the old castle square.

Accompanied by the music, masters did the unique feat one by one. There were shadowboxing, "Kungfu Fan" and "Taiji Sword". The most noticeable is a ten-year old Kungfu wonder child named Tongshanxianlong. As the son of the curator, he not only learned much from his father, but also was good at falchion. Two karate coaches also showed their unique feat. What Cunsongzhengxiao showed was flourishing a pottery and what the other coach showed was one kind of karate "the thirteenth", the performances were very impressive. After that they will communicate with the martial art team of Zhejiang province.

The Bridge across the River Will Recur on May Day Next Year(2006-8-14)

Recently, the design alternatives of five bridges of the second project of Xiang Lake starting region showed in the doorway of Jiangsi park in Xiaoshan District.

It is reported that the second project of Xiang Lake will  resume some marked bridges and 600 units of area of lake and finish more than 100000 sq.ms of travelling supporting facilities and 4.5 kms of lake strandline. On the occasion, the area of the lake will achieve to 1800 units of area and the length of lake strandline will be 9 kms. T he mountain and water of 4.6 sq.kms of Xinaghu starting region will show the verve of ancient Yue and the temperament of countryside culture more than before.

2006 4th Zhejiang International Traditional Martial Art Competition Succeeded (2006-8-13)

2006 4th zhejiang International Traditional Martial Art Competition was successfully held from 3rd to 6th, August at Yellow Dragon Sports Center Hall.

This competition with the topic "Leisure, Communication, Friendship and Harmony" was set up 13 teams for male and female involving 260 programs such as contest, universal and traditional martial art series 3300 athletes of 227 delegations from 19 nations and districts such as China , France , Japan and the United States etc. attended this competition. Chenzhi, from Hangzhou , got five gold medals and became all-round champion in the middle team.

Sub-venue Tonglu Held first Fuchun River "Triathlon"(2006-8-12)

On 2 nd , August, first Fuchun River "Triathlon" was held in south of the River Bay , Tonglu.

The competition included 1000 meters' swimming, 100 meters' rowboat and 1500 meters' mountain-climbing. There were 17 athletes and nonprofessional players including 13 males and 4 females. Among these athletes, the oldest person is 51 years old while the youngest one is only 12 years old.

1st China Unicom Cup Super Racing Car Competition 2006 Was Held in Sub-venue of Anji

Recent days, Anji, sub-venue of World Leisure Expo held 1st China Unicom Cup Super Racing Car Competition 2006. So far it was the largest national amateur racing car competition.

This competition has attracted more than hundred racing-car competitors from Yangtze delta region. After over ten rounds runoff, Yangzheng, from Hangzhou got the Champion with his Benz E55.
